Under 19 Women’s World Cup Cricket 2023 Highlights – The inaugural edition of the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup will take place in South Africa from January 2023.
16 teams will compete in the tournament which will start on January 14 and consist of 41 matches. It will be followed by the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, which also begins in South Africa, from February 9.
Under 19 Women’s World Cup Cricket 2023 Highlights
Eleven full member nations automatically qualified for the inaugural edition of the U19 Women’s World Cup, namely: Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Zimbabwe.

The remaining five positions are filled by one team from each of the five ICC regions, through regional qualifiers, which began in June this year.
America: The United States received fifth place as the only affiliated country eligible to compete in the ICC Road Event participation criteria for the region.

In the nine-team ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup Africa 2022 qualifiers, Rwanda beat Tanzania by six goals to one in the final to book their place in the ICC World Cup for the first time at any level.
Group A includes the Australian heavyweights, who have some of their players with senior cricket experience in the WBBL and domestic one-day tournaments. They are the favorites to pass through the group.
Sri Lanka will be led by 17-year-old Vishmi Gunaratne, who has played nine T20Is and also made her ODI debut last year. She will lead a talented group of players in South Africa, where their work will be very good for the captain who is the only player with experience at the top level.

Bangladesh are dark horses in Group A, and they have a strong squad that includes four experienced players who traveled with the senior team last year.
With Shivnarine Chanderpaul as the head coach, USA also cannot be taken lightly. All-star Geetika Kodali will captain the USA with wicketkeeper/batter Anika Colan named vice-captain for the event.
England are all set to take the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup by storm with several players taking the big stage. England on paper are not only favorites to progress to the Super 6 stage of the competition, but must be dreaming of going even further.
Pakistan fielded their first women’s under-19 team during the warm-up matches. Led by right-arm spinner Aroob Shah and coached by Mohsin Kamal, Pakistan’s senior team will be tasked with improving the quality of an inexperienced squad of players.

Rwanda turned heads when they lost to Ireland in the warm-up games before the main tournament. Nineteen years after becoming a member of the ICC, Rwanda’s under-19 women became the country’s first representative in an international cricket event. They hope to create history in their first event.
Zimbabwe will be hoping to get through the group stage after spending a lot of time as a group before the tournament. In addition to captain Ndhlovu, much will be expected of Michelle Mavunga, the team’s second row player.
After beating Zimbabwe in an unofficial warm-up, Indonesia turned heads again with another win in their pre-tournament friendly. This is the first time that the ICC World Cup Indonesia has reached any level, but the achievements have raised new expectations.
With plenty of talent covered in senior T20Is, West Indies can make an early impact in the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023. They have a level squad that can be expected to qualify. However, they have won just one of the last 10 T20s – with the most recent losses also coming to Sri Lanka, India and the USA.

The New Zealand team consists of players who have made a mark in international and domestic cricket. Three players – Fran Jonas, Georgia Plimmer and the talented Isabella Gaze – stand out in the team with their experience. They are expected to be among the top teams in the event.
With 17-year-old Amy Hunter as one of the faces of the inaugural tournament, Ireland packs quite a punch. With the U19s automatically eligible for full membership, the Ireland Under-19s are focused on home preparations ahead of the campaign.
With Shafali Verma at the helm and upcoming star Richa Ghosh, India’s inaugural ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup looks formidable.
South Africa welcome India without a win, but they are expected to be a formidable team in the competition in their country.

After winning every match in the Asian qualifiers, the UAE qualified for the inaugural ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 and will aim to finish in the top three of the group.
It will be a historic event for Scotland as it will be the first time a women’s cricket team has participated in the World Cup, but it will be a huge task for them in a tough group.
The top three teams from each group will advance to the sixth round of the Super 6, with the teams drawn into two groups of six. Group 1 will consist of the three teams from Groups A and D, while Group 2 will have three teams each from Groups B and C.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, both of which will be played on January 27 at JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom.
